In short
Your logbook is a legal record of your career, so it is treated like one: only you can open it, it is encrypted, it is copied every night, and nothing in it is ever sold, shared or used for advertising.
Signing in
- Logbooks are by invitation: only accepted pilots can sign in.
- You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. There is no password, so there is none to guess, reuse or leak.
- Each device stays signed in for a limited time, then asks for a new code. Signing out removes the copy of your logbook kept on that device.
Your logbook stays yours
- Each pilot has a separate database and separate file storage. Nobody else can see your flights, not even the person who invited you.
- Before every update, automatic tests sign in as different pilots and check that none can open another's flights, files or settings.
- On a shared device, changes waiting to be sent always go to the logbook of the pilot who made them, never into someone else's.
Encryption
- On the way: every connection between your device and the logbook is encrypted (HTTPS).
- At rest: on the server, your photos, PDFs and every backup copy are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key is kept apart from the data, and a file changed on disk is refused rather than opened.
The server
- The logbook runs on a private server (OVHcloud) that can't be reached directly from the internet: the only way in is Cloudflare's encrypted tunnel.
- Security updates are installed automatically every night. Updates to the logbook itself are tested on a separate test copy before they reach yours.
- The secret keys the logbook needs (for email and for Cloudflare) are kept in files only the server can read, and are never shown again once saved.
Backups and mistakes
- Every logbook is copied every night, and a second, separate copy of every flight is kept where the logbook app itself can't change or delete it.
- A safety copy of your whole logbook is kept automatically every month, and you can make your own before a big change. Any import can be undone.
- Every change to a flight is kept in its history. Deleted flights go to a trash and can be restored. Nothing is erased without your say.
- You can download everything, at any time, in open formats.
No tracking
No ads, no analytics, no trackers, on this website or in the logbook. The AI only receives the pages you choose to import (a paper logbook page, a schedule), never your logbook. See the privacy policy for every service used.
